Getting There

I have spent most of today & yesterday with my friend, learning some more things about my website.  I’ve not really got much to show for it, but the little things have made me much happier & eager to learn more.  If you’ve been checking out my site on a regular basis (OK, so I know you haven’t, I think I am my only regular visitor 🙂 ), you will notice that I have made the following changes:

  • A few more pages, which point you to the categories I write about,
  • A new Tag Cloud, brilliantly explained in my new Bloggers Handbook, a present from Mike Hudson,
  • The background colour, ready for my change in image (hoping my husband designs it soon)
  • New Links
  • New Archives
  • New Favicon (I don’t really know what this means but it’s cute 🙂 )

I’m now getting the bug for amending, so keep watching this space.

Continued Development

I am finding it quite difficult to get to grips with everything to do with running your own website, content, analytics, stats, code, etc, although I am thoroughly enjoying it.  It’s proving to be a challenge having the time to change all the little things that I don’t like on my current set up, as I am a little finicky, but I’ll get there I’m sure.

My husband is a graphics designer so I am hoping to have a new banner on the top of my website very soon, consisting of the same picture, but something a little more bespoke.  I’ve left this to him as he’s much better at that kind of thing.  We could make a good web development team if we put our minds to it & I put the effort in to become a proper geek & get to grips with this coding 🙂

Anyway, I hope you all like the site & I will continue to find some more things to blog about which are a little bit more interesting than me waffling!

Delicious Tea

Today I’ve had a pretty lazy day which consisted of a Web Development lesson from my close friend (which I am totally greatful for but yet to take advantage of – watch this space) and nothing much else.  So when it came to making tea & there was nothing in the cupboards, I couldn’t be bothered to go to the shop to buy anything, so a throw together tea it was.

Well, no food in the cupboards, so I thought!  Now, I’m not very good at creating something from nothing so I wasn’t expecting anything swish but along came the most amazing tea & I thought I would share it with you all.  I found the following ingredients:

  • Chicken Breasts
  • Cream Cheese
  • Mushrooms
  • Lemon
  • Fresh Sage
  • Bacon

and I did the following:

  • Bash the chicken breasts to make them thin
  • Spread a small layer of cream cheese on the chicken breast
  • Squeeze a small amount of lemon juice on the cheese
  • Layer sage leaves & chopped mushroom on top of the cheese
  • Squeeze a little more lemon juice on & season with salt & pepper
  • Roll up the chicken breast & wrap in bacon
  • Wrap the whole thing in tinfoil & put in the oven for about 30 mins at 200 °C

I have to say, it was absolutely delicious…Try it & let me know what you think 🙂

Out of my Depth?

Well yesterday saw the 1st downtime of my website in it’s very short history.  Unsure why at this point, but an upgrade in package & some babysitting by my IT Guru it was back up in no time…However, my love for it diminished slightly in my normal ‘mardybum style.  Just imagine a small toddler throwing themselves to the ground, arms flailing, legs kicking & with a *very* grumpy face.

Today though, I have a new lease of blog life & will spend some quality time with it over the next few days, trying to get to grips with some of the functions behind it, so it doesn’t happen again, or at the very least I don’t feel like a fish out of water if it does.

Thanks for bearing with me & a special thanks to Mike 🙂 xx

Learning Web Development on the Fly

So this is my first official blog on my very own website…exciting huh!?

It’s quite daunting being solely in charge of how things look & what to say…before, over at my temporary home, the words were down to me, but I did soon feel like things weren’t quite right.  Not that there is anything wrong with the website I was using but that was Mike’s baby & not mine & my obsession about little things started to take over.  Now, I get to run riot on my own.

As a main part of my current job I have to do programming in VBA for Excel but it’s been about 5 years since I last touched HTML, etc, so it will take a while to get used to things.  Please bear with me, I am a quick learner with some things, but slightly pedantic about others, so things may take time.  For example, I’ve just spent an hour trying to change the font size :$ Hee Hee!  I’m not going to lie, I have my 24 hour IT Helpdesk at hand to point me in the right direction, but I’m going to try & learn as I go! 🙂

Let me know what you think…any comments are welcome!
